About

BALHAM YOGA CLASSES

Down To Earth Yoga

Hannah Pocket is an approachable, lighthearted and down to earth person. Who believes that variety and balance are the key to good health.

When Hannah started teaching yoga in Balham in 2017 she wanted her classes to be accessible and welcoming for everybody. Her Hatha Vinyasa Flow classes have a friendly community feel and are open to all levels, no matter your experience or ability. She offers clear anatomical guidance and plenty of options throughout each yoga class, so you can move in a way that works best for your strength and flexibility.

Class packs can bring the cost down to as little as £10 per session. Plus, you get double the time to use your credits compared to most Balham studios. Why? Because life is busy, and committing to 10 yoga classes in three months is hard! Hannah wants you to be able to enjoy a variety of activities and balance exercise with your social life.

Yoga Day Retreats

Yoga day retreats take place just outside London in Sussex. Either at the Yoga Garden within the beautiful Knepp Rewilding project, or at Cowdray Hall at the heart of the South Downs National Park. Just over an hour from South West London, yet these day retreats feel a world away from the city, space to reconnect with yourself and nature.

"I just wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful yoga day retreat yesterday. It was absolutely blissful - your teaching was so clear and inspiring. I really appreciated the opportunities you created for reflection and sharing. It’s amazing how much benefit a single day can bring! Thank you for all the effort and care you put into make it so special for us all."

Hatha Vinyasa Flow

Hannah teaches a playful and creative style of Hatha Vinyasa Flow. It’s yoga that doesn't take itself too seriously - a space for you to move, sweat,  stretch, breathe and relax.

Hatha Yoga is slow but strong. By holding poses for a few breaths, it gives you time to build strength, increase flexibility, and understand alignment.

Vinyasa Yoga is more dynamic, flowing smoothly from one pose to the next. Syncing breath with movement calms the mind as we work up a satisfying sweat.

To provide variety and balance Hannah’s intelligently designed yoga classes have a different physical focus each week.

Private 1:1 Yoga

Life can be hectic, and finding time for yourself often takes a backseat. 1:1 private yoga classes create a space where it's just about you. Hannah teaches Hatha Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Breathwork, Meditation and Yoga Nidra. Together you will co-create a practice that aligns with your particular needs and sessions can be adapted to your energy levels.

YOGA REVIEWS

PHILIP

Hannah's yoga classes are really enjoyable, she has a very clear and calming voice. There is a great variety for each class with plenty of options for the less mobile/experienced students like myself. I always feel in a good place after the Balham yoga class and recommend Hannah highly.

ALISON

Hannah has a unique ability to teach yoga to all levels of ability and all ages. So often Women in their 40's and 50's know that the practice can help build strength, flexibility and relaxation but are put off by joining classes full of yoga experts and teachers who have an homogenous approach. Hannah is a strong communicator, has patience and offers a bespoke teaching experience for private clients that helps clients celebrate incremental gains, therefore building confidence and strength. I have no hesitation in recommending Hannah's yoga classes and private tuition.

GEORGE

Hannah's Balham class is what got me interested in Yoga! I'd been to a few classes before but wasn't gripped, then I went to a class with Hannah and really enjoyed it. Now I go every week, and I've learnt so much. Hannah's great at explaining everything and each week is varied, which keeps it fun and interesting! I felt very comfortable from the first class.

ROSIE

The Autumn day retreat venue was literally stunning, and was so nice to get out of London for a day. I'm still on such a high from such a lovely day spent with a wonderful group of people. I can't recommend this yoga retreat enough.

CARMELLA

Hannah's day retreat was absolutely incredible and a very special experience. There was no detail that wasn't thought of. The yoga itself was brilliant, and the added meditation, readings and gratitude sections at the end were perfect. The ambience was magical and I can't wait for the opportunity to take family and friends along to one of Hannah's yoga retreats in the future.

STEVE

I’ve tried yoga a few times in the past and have never really enjoyed it, but Hannah makes all the poses really easy to understand and brings awesome energy to the sessions - I love it!! Great work Hannah, I’m a yoga convert!!

ROZ

I’ve been practising yoga for many years and have enjoyed Hannah's enthusiasm and fresh approach. She creates a lovely class atmosphere and makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable, whatever the level of their practice. Her local Balham classes are just the right balance between challenging and calming. I highly recommend Hannah to yogis everywhere.

GEMMA

The yoga retreat was a great chance to get away from the non stop hustle of London and to take some time out to recharge through both energetic and relaxing yoga flows. Hannah is very welcoming and the small group makes the atmosphere feel very friendly. The Yoga Garden yurt and Knepp Rewilding Project location were both beautiful, and the food was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and left already planning when I was going to come back!
